How It Works

The AutoBackup service is really quite simple and easy to use. We cater to the needs of novice users by offering a wizard driven setup and backup process while offering the flexibility to get a lot more detailed for advanced users. We’ve got all the Features anyone would need to securely backup any amount of data for any type of business or personal use.

Initial Setup.

Backing up and protecting your valuable information couldn’t be any simpler. Once an account has been setup and validated, a user can download our backup client software through our secure customer portal. After the installation and setup of your backup set through creating a new schedule (see our Installation and Setup Guide), you’re all set to take advantage of the automated secure services we provide. Set it and forget it as we do all the work from here on in!

Our Turn.

At a pre-determined time setup through your backup schedule or through our Continuous Data Protection option, AutoBackup wakes up and begins all the hard work. If it’s your first time running the backup the software will begin by collecting all the files to include in your backup based upon your settings. From there the files get de-duplicated, compressed, encrypted (based upon the key that you provided) and securely uploaded to our backup server. From that point onwards your files are protected; they may be accessed and restored at any time. It’s as simple as that.

If it’s a subsequent backup (not your first) the process is a little different in that AutoBackup identifies any new files as well as the files that have changed and compares them with their previous version to identify the differences between the two files. After that, it extracts the differences, compresses and encrypts them and uploads them to the backup server.

Your complete files are only uploaded to our backup servers once. After that AutoBackup only sends the changes to the files which save you significantly on bandwidth usage and charges. We call the file differences that are created "Deltas" or "Patches" and store an appropriate amount based on your File Versioning settings (minimum of 2). We call this an "Incremental Forever" process and approach to file backup. It decreases the amount of time required to complete your backups and saves you money and time in the process.

I Need To Restore.

Restoring files at any time, 24/7/365 is as simple a using the backup client or secure online Web Operator to access any version of the file you wish to restore and downloading it from the backup server. If you are using the local storage option, AutoBackup will check to see if the file is available locally first which makes things even faster. If you need to restore a significant amount of files and downloading them in time is not an option, you can enlist other recovery options we offer.
