The handling of all personal information by Fortress Data Vaulting, Inc. (Fortress) is governed by the Personal Information Privacy and Electronic Document Act (PIPEDA). Fortress collects personally identifiable information, such as your e-mail address, name, home or work address, telephone numbers and credit card information. Fortress also collects anonymous demographic information, which is not unique to you, such as your postal code, age, gender, preferences, interests and favorites.
There is also information about your computer hardware and software that is automatically collected by Fortress. How to Opt-Out/Unsubscribe
Customers wishing to use the AutoBackup service are required to accept email correspondence directly relating to the operation of the service. Some examples include account validation, system maintenance, trial period reminders and account status email. The AutoBackup software sends backup reports to all clients at the completion of a backup set. This feature is on by default but may be turned off by the user within the software options and preferences.
Occasionally, Fortress will send out marketing email to their customers highlighting specials or the introduction of new services. By default, the customer is automatically Opted-Out of receiving these emails upon account generation requiring them to Opt-In prior to any marketing messages being sent to them. Should they have Opted-In but wish to Opt-Out of all correspondence that is not directly related to the operation of the service, they may do so through their account preferences. They simply have to sign in to their account through www.autobackup.ca and access the Customer Details interface within the "My Account" section of the web site From there they need to access the "Misc. Details" tab and uncheck the "Receive product/service related information. Internal use only." checkbox.
Security of your Personal Information
Fortress secures your personal information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. Fortress secures the personally identifiable information you provide on computer servers in a controlled, secure environment, protected from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. When personal information (such as a credit card number) is transmitted to other web sites, it is protected through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol.
